SO we are good friends, shes good fun to talk to and we'v been out in a group a few times, but I'm worried that it could become weird at work if she says no or if something happens…. any advice?
Suggestion:
If you don't have a policy against this sort of thing where you work, why not consider asking her to lunch during work hours sometime? See how that goes.
If you're comfortable with it, then you could ask her out afterwards.

It's generally a bad idea to date someone you work with. If you do date and end up breaking up, it would be more than awkward at work.
