Today, internet dating is seen as a real, safe and totally non-nerdy option for everyone in every age group. The way life is these days, it’s more fast paced than ever before, and only getting faster. Some of us just don’t have the time, others are getting a little too old for the bar scene, and others are just tired of being set up on blind dates with people they’re totally incompatible with.
You’ve seen the commercials, there are studies you can take a look at, you probably know one or two people who fell in love thanks to an online dating site, so it’s been proven: Online dating works. Or rather… It CAN work, if you know how to make it work for you…
Be Realistic
Don’t expect the first date to be with your future wife/husband. Yes, these sites are designed to find compatible dates for you, but there’s an element of compatibility that can’t be boiled down to numbers and calculated through a computer. Your odds are greatly increased through these sites, and it’s not at all impossible to find your perfect match, but remember that a first date is just a first date.
Be Cool
If you don’t date much, know that you need to play it cool. Don’t be too desperate to impress, just be yourself. Being who you are won’t guarantee that you and your date hit it off right away, but it will guarantee that they have a chance to get to know the real you, but if you’re nervous, if you’re putting on a big show for the first date, you can guarantee that things won’t work out.
Try, Try Again
If the first date doesn’t go as you’d hoped… Just get back online and try again. Don’t string your hopes for happiness on one night, rather, keep meeting new people until you find the one that’s right for you. At the very least, you can make some new friends along the way while searching for Mister/Misses Right. Don’t get your hopes up too high on the first date, but don’t let your hopes down after the first date, either.
