Dating can be something of a mine field for men. Not only do they express utter bewilderment when it comes to the female psyche, which has been described alternatively as mysterious, unknowable and mercurial, they also seem to struggle with the perennial hunt. Its all about getting the girl and not just any girl, but the right girl. So the question is how does one suppress the more primal instincts, live up to the girls expectations and be a perfect gentleman all at once? It may seem like a tough act to juggle, but its really not.
Dating is simple, if you really think about it. There isn’t one golden rule book to follow. There’s no dictionary that nails dating on the head. However, there are some guidelines that prove quite handy when it comes to successful dating.
An important thing to remember is to tone it down. Often, a girl has unrealistic expectations. They may think a girl is more than she really is, or they may get ahead of themselves way too fast. It’s unrealistic behavior. The best thing to do is to keep a level head. Remain calm.
Grow up. This applies to both guys and gals, but girls do tend to mature faster. This means cleaning up your act. Dont think that your flaws or sloppy habits make you somehow charming or more real. Be prepared to take responsibility for your actions. Stop drinking like a college kid. When youre sober, the choices you make are all your own. And good things can happen from there.
Make your date feel like she’s cherished. Show her that she’s important. Everyone likes the feeling of being special. If you don’t show that, then you’re probably off to a rocky start.
Open the car door. Pull out her chair at a restaurant. It may seem old fashioned especially now that everyone champions egalitarianism, but women like these little courtesies. Stuff like that really doesnt get old.
Appreciate your date. Pay attention to her. Show her affection. These three A’s will get you far. It’s important that you show your date that you respect her, that you listen to her and that she matters and not simply as a sexual object. Show her you care. It really does wonders.
Be open to unexpected ideas. A girl may fancy a good home made meal of Dominos pizza or she may want to rock out to Guitar Hero. Peoples tastes differ. Go with it. The dinner and movie standard sometimes is just boring.
Think positive thoughts. Don’t give up if things aren’t working as you planned. Negativity is a killjoy, don’t let it ruin what may be a great relationship.
Its probably not a great idea to talk about an ex or a string of exs. Also, dont take your date to a place where theres a lot of eye candy. You wont be able to fully concentrate and your date will probably feel awkward.
