I mean, c'mon, we all know women write romance better than men. He's a breakout star, and I don't think it's because his books are so great that he's one of the top romance writers in the biz. He's definitely getting by, and getting a lot of attention, because he's one of the few male romance writers who uses his real name. I'd bet there are dozens of female romance writers who are better than him, but don't get the attention because they're women. The only reason Sparks gets the attention and not them is because he's a male in a female dominated genre; some people like to idolize things that are different than the norm.
Thanks to men writing romance, women now have to endure mediocre romance!

I somewhat see what your saying but no matter if he was a boy or a girl, The last song is my absolute FAVORITE book of all time. And he would be my absolute favorite author if his books didnt all end so sad. I dont like him because he is a guy, i really like his writing. Honestly i never even thought about the fact that being a guy could be the reason that he is so popular.
His books are not romantic at all. Have you people read Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series? Now that's what I call a romance.
I have no clue why Nicholas Sparks is famous. Maybe it's because they turned his books into films?
I don't know, probably. There's so much hype over him & personally, i only like 2 of his books. The rest are boring.
