How to Deal with a Boyfriend Break Up

If you are dealing with a boyfriend break up, chances are you are emotionally raw. You may have a hard time dealing with constant questions, like “Did your boyfriend break up with you?” and other nosy inquiries. What you really need is to understand the cause of the break up.

First, it’s important to remember not to turn the blame inward on yourself as the cause of your boyfriend break up. Spending some time soul searching isn’t a bad idea, but in reality, he’s got his own problems that lead to the break up. Just remember the saying “it’s not you, it’s me” when it comes to your ex boyfriend.

If you want to, you can devote some time to trying to get your ex back. If you take this path, you should remember the following:

Don’t bug your ex after a boyfriend break up. If he’s ended the relationship, then he wants his space, so don’t call or text him several times a day.

It’s perfectly fineto flirt with other guys when he’s around. This might even prompt him to want you back.

When you do get back together for a “trial date” be cheerful and friendly but don’t pressure him for more than he can handle.

But, if you have a feeling in your gut that the relationship is over when your boyfriend break up with you, then you need to start moving on.

One technique that can really help you heal after a boyfriend break up is sitting down to write a lengthy, detailed letter about the relationship. Really pour your heart into it and talk about all of the good and bad things you shared with one another. Get it all off your chest; call him jerk or other names that come to mind. But don’t send the letter! Instead, burn it in a candle flame. This is a great way to release pent up emotions and gain some closure after a boyfriend break up.

The next thing that you must do is a property exchange. Give him back his flannel boxers that you love to sleep in. Get back the trig textbook that he borrowed from you. Box up any gifts he may have given you and store them for a while. The idea is to avoid, for now, anything that might remind you of him. Now is also the time to sort out any money issues you may have, like debts, and joint credit cards or other accounts.

Once you’ve done the property exchange, you should both agree to refrain from contacting each other for a month. This can be difficult if you are accustomed to seeing each other every day, but you’ll need some time and space after a boyfriend break up, and so will he.

A boyfriend break up is perhaps one of the most painful things you can go through, but it isn’t the end of the world. In fact, you might think of it as a new beginning and realize that you are now free to meet the one who will truly be your soul mate.

Of course, you shouldn’t jump to the conclusion that just because you’ve gone through a boyfriend break up that all of the doors are firmly shut. If you think you have a shot of winning him back and that’s something you want, you should by all means take the opportunity to do so.

After all, true love can’t be squashed by a boyfriend break up.
