Some people are natural at making friends while some find it really hard to make a few or if any friends at all. This could be due to a variety of reasons. Some people are just too shy to talk to anyone. Some are socio-phobic meaning that they cannot get along in social gatherings.
This does not mean that shy people do not need friends or want friends; they simply find it hard to get friends. They want friends as much as other people. Being social animals, everyone requires friends.
Typically there are many friends to be had. It’s just the matter of breaking the ice. No matter what the reasons for not having friends, all can change. There are some simple but effective ways of making friends.
One good way to make fiends is by spending time with people. The more people there is around you, the more changes to make friends. This should not mean that we are looking to make lots of friends; it’s just that the chances to make friends are increased. We can meet more like minded friends and therefore make more friends.
If you went to a new place for work or started a new university or college, it can often be difficult to make new friends. One way to get familiar with others is to start talking to them first and breaking the ice. Many youngsters are generally shy and egoish. Try to break the ice first.
Another good way of making friends is going to social clubs, for example if you like karate then join a club. You are bound to meet like minded people with similar tastes. Talk to them and get friendly.
Try to volunteer. If you are passionate about eliminating world poverty, you could join a charity. There are plenty of charity organisations that require help in collection, to work in shops, talking to people, distributing leaflets etc. Not only will you be doing a worthwhile job but at the same time you can make friends.
