It is easy to be romantic when your relationship is just starting to bloom. The longer we are together the harder it gets to be romantic and to show affection to your partner. It is especially hard when you start a family together. Even if you still love each other dearly, it is difficult to be romantic in the midst of diapers, dirty socks and unwashed dishes. Difficult, but not impossible.
Many people think that they need lots of money in order to be romantic. This is a misconception, because there are many ways how to be romantic on a budget.
While flowers and chocolates are nice and easy ways to show your love and appreciation, there are other, more creative ways to do it.
Think about the last time you told you partner that you loved them.
If youve been married for 15 years and the last time you said that you loved them was on your honeymoon, say it again. Many loving couples dont say I love you to each other, because they think that it is obvious and therefore, unnecessary. Avoid this mistake, especially, if you are a guy, because they say that women love with their ears and they need to hear that they are loved.
If you say I love you often, pay attention to how you say it. Some people say it so often that it sounds mechanical. Say it in a different way. Hold your partners hands, look into their eyes and say it with feeling. You may also send them flowers with a love you note, or stick a note in their pocket.
Another easy way to show love is to do something unexpectedly. Cook dinner if you have never cooked before, or bake his or her favorite cake (or buy it if you dont have culinary talent). Buy tickets to a concert that your loved one (and not necessarily you) would like; get them a present when they dont expect it.
Feel free to do something crazy. For example, make a painting for your loved one, even if the last time you held a paint brush was in kindergarten. It is not the outcome that matters but the thought. If he or she has a sense of humor, you may try making their portrait.
Another way to show love is to prepare a bubble bath for your partner. It will be a nice surprise after she or he comes home from work. Be creative. Turn some music on, light candles, make a drink.
You may also make a list of things you love about your partner and deliver it to them in a creative way. Stick it under their windshield wiper, sneak it in their pocket, or maybe prepare a romantic dinner and stick it under their plate. You can also buy a bouquet of flowers and put it inside.
Dont be discouraged if your romantic love seems to fade away. It is up to you whether you want it to sparkle again or let it be sucked up by the everyday routine.
