When writing his personal story, Tony Curtis started to think of some of the tips that another character in the film had given him – Cary Grant. He had been advised that the ultimate way to make someoen want his presence even more was to make them see him less often than they wanted.
This advice is obviously nothing new since top models and celebrities thrive on something like this for their public image. However, not all of them followed this advice. The ones who did not, soon found that a public which had once adored them had now grown tired of seeing them. Making too many movies or appearences was the cause the many careers ended prematurely.
Relationships and dating all follow the same kind of advice. When things are just starting off the two persons involved will want to see each other multiple times throughout a short period as emotions will be flying. You spend everyday together including weekends. They also contact each other by different communications means such as mobile or telephone calls, and these often last for hours at a time. Also, they manage to include meeting periods in times where before therre seemed to be not enought to get anything done such as lunch breaks , and the period of work is done for the day.Let’s not forget the internet where you constantly email and instant message each other.
Just as quick as it started, it will end. Neither partner can give a particular reason why he or she can’t stand the other person involved. No doubt it can be any number of reasons but if familiarity can breed contempt then overexposure can make you downright hostile. No matter how good things are going, try to keep a few things in mind:
1. Talk To You Later
You do not need to be in contact with your loved one every minute of the day.Calling or emailing once a day is enough (every other day is even better).Being in a relationship takes time to go down with each other and this kind of information takes time to sink in. Contacting someone more than once a day may be cute in the beginning but after awhile it can lead to The Sigh. That’s the one where your significant other takes a deep breath and asks themselves, “Now what do they want?” Definately not good.
2. Days Off
If you are currently dating, this may be something that you are even willing to consider at this point.Staying in close proximinity is vital to getting to know the other person better and they would never dream of cutting connections for some days. The only downfall of this is that if you get to know the other person too fast can lead to a feeling similar to suffocation. You will begin to feel that you are starting to belong to the other person and that every decision that you make needs the approval of your other half.At first the two of you chalked it up to love. Time has a way of turning it into resentment.
3. Your Own Circle
Most new dating partners make a common mistake in the beginning of their dating life; they believe that they have found someone who is 100% compatible with them and their lifestyles. But it does not exist. There are going to be tastes and interests you have that your dating partner does not share. That’s fine. This is why your social circle is important. It will allow you to spend more time here. That does not mean that you shouldn’t take an interest in some things your significant other likes. It does mean that you do not have to share everything to have a successful relationship.
Dating relationships can be very deceptive. The tidal wave of wonderful emotions you both feel can pull you together; yet at the same time it can lead you down the path of breaking up. Enjoy each other’s company but go slow and be sure to give each other plenty of breathing room. Getting too much of a good thing too fast only increases the chances of both of you growing tired of the relationship very quickly.
