You need to know how to jump if you play a sport competitively. Jumping is most important in sand volleyball but also in basketball.
Jumping involves sending an impulse to your spinal cord that happens so quickly, not even your brain is aware of it. That is why you can’t simply think about jumping and improve your jump height. You have to train that impulse to cause all of your muscle fibers fire at the same time.
You will not make it as an athlete if you are not quick and explosive. You can teach your body how to be more explosive by doing plyometrics.
It’s okay if you weren’t born with all the speed of other athletes. You are able to train so that you will be faster than any opponent.
How do you get faster? You train using plyometrics which will increase the number of fast twitch muscles in your body.
How high should I aim for in my jumping ability? I know many people think that their bodies are only capable of jumping a certain height. This is not true! You should aim for at least 44 inches.
What if I can’t make my own jump program? If you need help check out howtojumpHIGHERplyometricexercises.com it’s a long name but contains all the info you need.
Once you realize that it’s not only your legs involved in jumping but other muscles as well you will want to train every muscle possible so that one of the stabilizer muscles doesn’t prevent you from jumping higher. You are only as strong as your weakest muscle when it comes to jumping so don’t let that affect your jump height.
