Cholesterol is a type of lipid that is used in a lot of bodily functions in your body. Cholesterol is obtained from the food we put in our body. It is also naturally produced by the liver. Cholesterol is needed by our bodies. There is, however, such thing as excessive cholesterol that may build up and cause problems in the long fun.
There are several types of cholesterol. HDL, LDL and triglycerides. LDL is your low-density lipoprotein. It is considered to be the ‘bad’ cholesterol. The ‘good’ cholesterol is called HDL or high-density lipoproteins. Because LDL cholesterol has adverse affects on our health, it is deemed ‘bad’ because it contains mostly fats and almost zero proteins.

Medical doctors have already set certain cholesterol level goals each for LDL, HDL, and triglycerides. For LDL, doctors advice that they should be maintained in low proportions than the other two since they are not very useful and could also be capable of affecting the health.
Specifically, LDL cholesterol can heighten the risk of heart attack and stroke. Depending on whether a person is at high, moderate, or low risks, their LDL cholesterol level goal varies.
The size and density of LDL cholesterol varies. One example is known as “Pattern B” LDL. This is smaller in size and more dense, it is usually associated with high risks of having coronary heart disease.
