30 Dating is extremely easier said than done. I remember while I was in my the first part of twenties. I used to uncover dates all of the time, and getting dates was not difficult. Nonetheless, she was able to raise my heart in her arms and pull it near to her chest. We dated for six months and loved each other every moment we spent with each other. Our difficulties stemmed from living so far apart. Even if we lived over 500 miles away from each other, our love had no boundaries. That is why I am regretful to say that we had to break up even though we still appreciated each other. We wanted to get married and talked about it a lot. The problem that we had was the fact that her disability benefits were different in California compared to Nevada. I knew I could not move to California because my job as a teacher was in Nevada. Added to, I had a house that decreased in value so much that it was impossible for me to move. Why can’t disability benefits be the same in every state. The disabilities system does not allow disabled individuals to receive the same amount of benefits in every state. Therefore, if you are disabled then you are stuck in the state in which you live in. Disability benefits should be the same no matter where you live. The problem is every state dictates how much benefits disabled people living in that state receive. Lauren was not able to labor, therefore she was dependent on the California government which had the best disability benefits for people with muscular atrophy compared to other states in the United States. Also, Lauren was not able to ever get married because her benefits would become obsolete. What I mean is that if her husband makes over 40,000 dollars a year she will lose all of her benefits. The cost of caring for Lauren is about 40,000 dollars a year. As a result, Lauren and whoever was her husband would not be able to afford to live because all of her husband’s income would go to pay for Lauren’s medical needs. For example, she needs special care because her muscles do not allow for her to move herself, feed herself, or do anything that involves muscle activity. I was sad to have to break up with Lauren and I miss her greatly. I wish I was a millionaire because I would love and care for Lauren every moment of the day.
As a result, I went back onto 30 dating and met many wonderful women, however, none of them make me feel like the way Lauren made me feel. I only wish things were different. I wish society would value disabled people more and allow them to live a full life and not live in poverty. I will always remember your beautiful eyes and smile Lauren.
